Six Ways to Keep Your Dog Cool During the Summer Months

1. Baby pool

Some dogs might not enjoy swimming in their big backyard pool, but enjoying laying in a baby pool. Some even like to roll around in it.

2. Sprinkler

Some pups might not enjoy submerging themselves in a pool, but love to run free through a sprinkler.

3. Slip and Slide

We’ve had many dogs grace our homes who enjoyed the slip and slide. They can run down it, lay in the water, dash through the water feature.

4. Splash Pad

This combines the fun of a sprinkler, but only with more water. If your dogs love to run through the hose while you are watering, they’ll really like a splash pad.

5. River Fun

Nothing beats a romp in the river on a hot day. Pack up your pup, head to the river and let the fun begin. Don’t forget your floating toys when you go to the river. The Kong Wubba Wet and the Kong Aqua are great choices to enhance your river fun (or pool).

6. Frozen Treats

Maybe your dog is equivalent to the person who likes to go to the beach/pool, but doesn’t like to go in the water. No problem! Make some fun frozen treats.

  • Freeze broth in ice cube trays.
  • Freeze yogurt with blueberries or slices or strawberries in an ice cube tray.
  • Pictured below is the Kool Dogz Ice Treat Maker. It comes with a bucket, lid, stand, and tray. Freeze treats, mix broth with water, plop in some dollops of peanut butter, drop in a frozen filled Kong and freeze the whole thing. It’s big enough to enjoy for a few days. Put it back in the bucket and freezer for tomorrow.

Watching a puppy chase and pounce on ice cube treats is a hoot!
